Self Portrait 16x12

Well, now that you know a little about myself from the Tag post below, I thought I'd post a self portrait I've been working on so you can see the outside of me....my shell. Actually, this is a project started by the Portland Plein Air & Studio Painters for the cooler months. Just to keep us working, the group decides on a project and then we have a group show. Here is my attempt for tonight. Painted ala Kitty Wallis style after attending a portrait demonstration by Kitty last month. I'm showing the stages of this piece. A bit too colorful for you? A bit too serious for you? I hope not! Painted from a mirror placed beside my easel. This is how I look when I am concentrating on my work.

Thanks for posting the process and the finished piece. It is really interesting to follow another artist's creative process. The portrait is dynamic!
I LOVE the orange painting (below) and I normally do not prefer still life. The contrast between the bag and the oranges is beautiful, not only in color but texture too.
On another note... I enjoyed looking at your tagged players' work. Thanks for playing Brenda!

Thanks Joni and Loriann. I really appreciate your invaluable feedback. I'm preparing to paint another couple of portraits. Not sure if I will make them wild in color like this one, or shall I use the local color? Anyway, it's part of a project with the PPASP group (linked on the right). Be sure to check back often for more!

I really like this self-portrait. I am working on learning how to paint portraits in pastel. A huge challenge for me. I will keep up with your work in the coming year.
