"Beaverton Creek" 12x9

"Beaverton Creek" 12x9

The weather was cooperating for a couple of days so a few of us artists in my community ventured out to dust off the winter cobwebs and paint en plein-air again. Boy, was I rusty! I spent a good 20 minutes fumbling with my new easel which takes up valuable painting time. But, before I begin painting, I've gotta eat a snack! Painting makes me hungry! I wonder if it is just me stalling....Looking at this, I can find many adjustments that are needed, but I'm feelin' a bit lazy and just wanted to post it for now. I was glad to get back inside after this 2 hour session. My hands were pretty cold!

Sales are HOT!...for now

"Glimpse of Gold" 7" x 8.5" sold

Sales are hot...at least for now! Usually, as an artist, a sale comes along every so often, and that's always great... Well, this week 6 paintings were purchased from a variety of venues! To say I'm thrilled is an understatement! I was telling my husband tonight over dinner and a celebratory glass of wine, that if just one piece sold every month every time, then it wouldn't be as exciting as the 6 in one week! Oh... the highs and lows of being an artist! Cheers!
On another note, I had my opening reception at the Doll Gardner Gallery. It is a beautiful venue to hang work. I spoke to a small crowd of art appreciators about the combined work of Gretha Lindwoods' and my work and loved the question and answer session. "How do you know when you are done working on a painting?", one curious patron asked. "When I can tell that the piece communicates just what I want it to say" is my answer to that!

Selected "Popular Art" on EBSQ!

"Bathing Yellow Irises" 18" x 24" Pastel

Today, I surfed over to one of my favorite art sites EBSQ and found on the home page (as of today) that "Bathing Yellow Irises" was selected as one of the "most popular" as determined by the number of times this piece has been favorited by members and patrons of EBSQ! How cool is that! This piece was painted in 2003 after a visit to my favorite watering hole, Hughes Water Gardens. The original has since sold, and giclee's continue sell well too! I had no idea! I guess, sometimes it's hard for me to believe that what I paint is for pure enjoyment, and others enjoy it too....humbling to say the least!

Still "Untitled"....22x24

OK, so I set this one aside and figured it needed adjustments. After letting it rest, I came to realize a few things needed to be removed. Guess if you can figure out just what is gone. I will be offering this image on a 12 x 12" giclee' print to the best title suggestion, including the suggestions I receive during my Open Studio this weekend. If you want to test you "title", then post your title on this blog for your entry. I will contact you if your title is selected. Thanks!
