Sauvie's Rest, Rentenaar Road, 9x6/12x9
"Sauvie's Rest" 9x6" Pastel on sanded paper
Today was a beauty! I awoke this morning to a full moon and driving out to the island early this morning reminded me of just how beautiful our Northwest really is. I saw the fog lifting off the smooth mirror-like water as I crossed Sauvie Island Bridge. There were 7 artists painting out on Rentenaar Rd. and we all buzzed with the purpose of capturing the color! Oh the fall is beautiful here, warm greens against the slightly orange edges and capped with a blue and buttery sky. Yummy

These are so beautiful, Brenda! I love the texture as well as the colors. I always cringe a little when someone describes a pastel as looking just like an oil painting. Not that that's a bad thing, I just love it when a pastel has so much texture, when bits of the underpainting or paper color show through. These are unmistakeably pastels!
Two exceptional paintings!
Hey Donna!
Thanks for the comments on these! I'll be out again today to capture more beauty at it's best. Hope to post those soon. I love the lavers of color on these, and this time around, I tended to pay more attention to the color all around me. Can you say happy!?
Thanks Celeste!
Maybe I'll see you out there too?
