Creative Literacy Project

"Sleeping On Shoe"

Hooray! Creative Literacy Project Has had it's first successful month! I got the notice today that my book, "Fat Black Cat" was selected for a class project of special needs children! This means that my first royalty check will be in the mail soon! This has been a wonderful project to work on and am pleased at the quality of how the "self publishing" guide works for the young authors. Developed for young writers, a book can be selected with the basic theme in place, allowing a child to write how the story goes. As an artist, this allows my work to be reproduced on demand with the additional joy it brings to a child. Check it out!

"Buoy Dance" 7x5"

This little marine gem "Buoy Dance" was painted quickly at a pace of 1/2 hour as a demo for my Open Studio in October. I since have touched it up a bit, adding detail and measuring values, making sure I have a focal point, cleaning up edges, softening edges, stuff like that. I'm offering this piece in the free drawing at Hillsboro's First Tuesday Art Walk this December 4th at Art Envy's Artist's Reception, 125 SE 3rd, Hillsboro, OR 97123. I will also have many of my smaller pieces that are very reasonably priced for this show as well as my entire line of note cards. Stop by from 6 to 9pm and enjoy a sip of wine with me! Oh, so because I worked on it some more, that brings the time creating up a notch to around 1 hour! :)

8 new paintings from this years work will be delivered to The Earthworks Gallery in Yachats for the Holiday season. Considered one of the best art dealers on the Oregon coast, visitors can get a glimpse of the talent offered from some of the best artists in the Northwest. Earthworks will also carry some of my more successful pieces as framed Giclee's. Giclee's offer an affordable way to collect artwork without the compromise on quality or price.

"Lopez Harbor Evening" 4x6.5in

This little beauty is from my Open Studio demo series from this past October show. Taken from the harbor on Lopez Island while the sun was just beginning to set, a wonderful glow on the surface of the water shimmers with pinks and blues.

NPS Potluck & Exchange

Just got back from the annual NPS Potluck and Painting exchange that took place in Seattle this Sunday. About 40 Pastellists were there for the annual meeting and we each submitted a painting (wrapped in brown craft paper) for the painting exchange. My ticket won me this beautiful piece created by Donna Trent of Gig Harbour, WA. Don't we look like sisters! Ha! Thanks Donna! Oh, and the food was great too! But the best thing about the trip was my company and safe driver, Gretha! What a great travelling companion and painting buddy! Thanks Gretha!

"Tide Flats" 5x7

SOLD

I'm finally getting back to the demo's I painted at Open Studio, and here is one that I think still needs a little working, BUT I really liked it enough to post for now. I think the small suggested detail of grasses needs variation in stroke. The mood of the lighting is appealing to me, like the sun is low, but not yet a sunset. I remember this place well with it's herons and small sea birds digging for goodies to eat.
