Pastel Journal "Creative Spark" Runner Up
"Le Petit Déjeuner Bleu" 5" x 5" Sold
Today I found out that my online submission to The Pastel Journal's Blog for the "Creative Spark" was selected as a "Runner Up"! I am thrilled is an understatement! My submission is the "Color Study #5" which I have since named "Le Petit Déjeuner Bleu". In the February Issue of The Pastel Journal was a challenge to submit a painting that generates visual energy by developing an entire painting with a certain type of stroke. I used broken color strokes to let the underpainting peek through the blue strokes. It will be entered into the Pittock Mansion "Shadow & Light" Art show that will be up for display this March. This little piece is sure gettin' the publicity!

Congratulations Brenda! Well-deserved!
I really am attracted to the broken color technique that you have used on some of your pieces. All your work is excellent, but there's just something about them that is exciting.
Thanks Cindy!
I'm so thrilled it was selected and posted! It's my hope that my work will get out there and be recognized!
Congratulations, this is a beautiful piece. Sara Mathewson (my wife) and I have been going over your blog for the last couple of days and you've inspired her to get her pastels out again.
Congratulations Brenda!
