Another one worth mentioning
"Dawson Creek Lilies" 12x16" Pastel on sanded paper
Nearly a week ago I visited the Columbia Center for the Arts to show the Plein Air work to my NPS buddies after we finished with the paint-out. As we walked around the corner someone noticed a yellow ribbon on the frame of my piece "Peoples Choice"! What a surprise this has turned out to be! Of course I'm thrilled, again, to have earned recognition from this show. The show had only two pastelists participating and my odds were nearly nill with all those incredible "Oilies" on the wall. Maybe there is something going on in the pastel world, or possibly people like them for their color? I think it's the color that gets all the glory, don't you? Anyway, still walking on air!

it is a fantastic composition and captures a view that we often see and possibly stop and admire when out on a walk. and of course the handling of the colours so it is all YOU and YOUR interpretation of this scene... congratulations!
Oh, congratulations, Brenda! The work, with its yellows and purples, just sings with its composition and color. The color IS fabulous, but I think the artistic vision had just a little bit to do with your people's choice award! It is a gorgeous work!
Thanks Rahina! I've gotten a lot of joy from this one piece, on many levels. How sweet it is!
Hi Elizabeth! Thanks a ton! I think of going back to oils but the pastel medium provides such colorful and immediate results! I say "HOORAY" for pastels! That doesn't mean I don't like oilies, its just that I think pastels don't get the merit that they're so worthy of. S'pose were getting closer? Maybe so!
Congratulations Brenda!! This is a beauty... excellent work is excellent work, no matter what the medium.
Loriann,
Thanks! I'll take "excellent" any day! :)
It looks fantastic! Congratulations for wining the award and I am glad that it was a pastel :)

Thanks Lisa and Dalibor! :)
Congratulations! It's very well deserved recognition. This is a stunning piece, love the reflections - they really pull the eye in and are a great compositional element. Great stuff...
Thanks Caroline!
I visited your blog and saw you got a couple of pieces on the Pearathon website. Me too, but some time ago! Thanks for visiting my blog!
